When leaving Libourne on your way to Perigueux, on both sides of
the N89 you will pass through the vineyards of one of the most prestigious
appellation: Pomerol.
Pomerol is different to the other Bordeaux appellations due to
the type of vine –mainly Merlot- which gives smoothness, plumpness
and fruitiness and to the work of river on its soil l´Isle.
Our property is located in the north-eastern part of Pomerol, locality
« Grand Moulinet ». The vineyard is made of 90% merlot
and 10% cabernet. The soil is of gravel bank and the subsoil of
iron oxide.
The property has been in the family since the 19th century and I
was born near this vineyard. Until the beginning of the ´80s
the wine was produced by my father under the name of château
Grand Moulinet. In 1988 he entrusted, in tenant farming, the vineyard
to Mr Jean Pierre Fourreau, also a landowner in Pomerol.
In 1999 with my wife, Rosa, we decided to market our wine, the
tenant farming part, directly. The Château Rosam was created.
It is also the name of the vintage of 1999 and 2000.
We reverted to the name of château Grand Moulinet since the
vintage of 2001.
